Board Assessments

Driving for High-Performance

“Our goal in the annual board evaluation, especially as chairs, was to get 4.9/5. We wanted to win. However when we asked ourselves, 'Could our boards be better?' We resoundingly said, 'Absolutely!' "

TESTIMONIAL

“My team were starting to begrudge the time it took to prepare materials for the board. I felt we were wasting precious resources and was considering disbanding my advisory board. Instead, I brought in Ozone to do a board assessment and redesign and now the packages are condensed, meaningful and our discussions are spent on strategy and current issues. What a difference!" APPROACH

While each project is unique, the goal of any assessment should be a Board Development Plan and not just a rating.

Ozone's typical project includes the following phases:

  1. Objectives. Understand the background and define objectives and scope. *
  2. Data Collection & Analysis. Using surveys and discovery interviews to assess board structure, processes, decision-making, culture and effectiveness.
  3. Current Situation. Review of existing governance documents and practices.
  4. Insights & Recommendations. Detailed reports with observations and findings along with actionable recommendations for board development.

Project scopes can included board assessments, individual director assessments, and/or committee assessments and could range from limited-scope engagements to comprehensive governance reviews.
